Founding Charter

This Charter establishes the mission, guiding principles, and membership rules of the Mortgage Banking Peer Group. It is the foundation members agree to uphold as a condition of participation.

I. Mission Statement

The Mortgage Banking Peer Group exists to strengthen community bank mortgage operations. We create a confidential environment where experienced leaders collaborate, benchmark performance, and share practical ideas that improve profitability, efficiency, compliance, and long-term success — addressing the unique opportunities and challenges of community bank mortgage lending.

II. Guiding Principles

Seven principles

01

Confidentiality

Trust is the foundation of the Group. Members speak candidly, knowing that shared information stays confidential.

02

Collaboration

Every member is both a teacher and a student. The Group succeeds when members openly share ideas, experiences, successes, and challenges.

03

Practical Value

Every meeting delivers actionable ideas, benchmarking, and solutions members can take back and implement within their organizations.

04

Operational Excellence

The Group helps members build stronger, more profitable, efficient, compliant, and resilient mortgage operations.

05

Member Driven

Meeting agendas, benchmarking, and discussions are driven by member needs and priorities.

06

Professional Respect

Members participate with integrity, professionalism, and respect for differing perspectives and operating models.

07

Independence

The Group exists to serve its members. Discussions remain objective and free from commercial influence.

III. Membership Rules

Rules of participation

  1. Rule 1 — Chatham House Rule

Members may use ideas and information shared during Group meetings but may not identify the individual or institution from which the information originated.

  2. Rule 2 — Confidentiality Agreement

Every member will execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as a condition of membership.

  3. Rule 3 — Antitrust

The Group encourages candid discussion of mortgage banking operations, financial performance, pricing strategies, and market conditions. Members must not engage in any discussion or agreement that could be construed as coordinating competitive business decisions or restricting competition.

  4. Rule 4 — Active Participation

Members are expected to attend meetings, contribute to discussions, and submit requested benchmarking information prior to each meeting.
